Who do we treat?

Chiropractors are trained to work with people of all ages.  It is always worth considering though that at various stages of our lives, the body's natural changes might make you more susceptible to increases in joint pain.

With this in mind, chiropractic care is not contraindicated due to age or physicality, but it is important to recognize that adjustment styles and techniques are modified and tailored to suit the individual.

Children can also respond well to being adjusted as their bodies have often been subjected to many falls and bumps at an early age.  Small children's skeletons are softer than an adult's and for example a more gentle technique might be used.

Pregnancy. During pregnancy, a mother's body releases a hormone called relaxin that allows her body to offer safe passage for the baby.  Unfortunately, this means that the increased laxity and reduced stability of her joints, especially in the pelvis and lower back, can add to an increased pressure on the joints.

Elderly.  You don't have to be a pensioner to feel as though you're creaking, but also you don't have to creak, just because you're a pensioner.  Many older people cant believe how much better they feel after a course of chiropractic care.  Often, the acceptance that a previous diagnosis or label from many years before has been a good enough reason

to give up on their potential.  Imagine how great it feels to be able to get rid of some of those labels and be able to do the things that you used to.

Generally, older people can take a little longer to respond fully to treatment and this is due to the length of time that the problem has been around.

Sports people.  Chiropractic can be great for some sports injuries and helping with rehabilitation.  The opportunity to balance out your body and to increase its efficiency is a mouthwatering prospect for any sportsman and a better conditioned body and nervous system can also decrease the incidence of injury and reduce time away from the field.

More energy, more speed on the track or another 10 yards on the golf course is the reason why some of the worlds greatest sportsmen and women include chiropractic as an essential part of their conditioning.

I

Everybody else.  There is a good argument for everybody benefiting from chiropractic care, but the fact remains that the majority of patients visit a chiropractor after hurting their back.  The good news is that Chiropractic is very effective for back pain in adults.  And it is also good for children.  And elderly. sportspeople and non sports people.  Pregnant women and non pregnant people.  Builders and desk workers, teachers and students... and even other chiropractors!
To put it simply, if you have a central nervous system, then chiropractic care can benefit you.
